Mondriaan Animation

I made this project in my first year at Iowa State in an animation class. For this project, we were required to choose an artwork to animate. I chose one of Piet Mondrian’s works from the early 20th century. I have always loved the simplicity of the Dutch De Stijl style and had a lot of fun animating this work to the best of my ability. This was my first time ever using Adobe After Effects and making any animation, so it was a trial and error process, but it made me realize how fun and complex the animation process can be. I re-worked Mondrian’s painting in Illustrator to turn the whole composition into a vector graphic in order to be able to animate it in After Affects. This project was created in the Fall of 2020.
